Description
Could you recognize the signs of elder abuse if a patient was experiencing it? Elder mistreatment is a growing public health concern, yet many cases go unnoticed and unreported. This interactive module equips you with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to recognize, assess, and respond to elder mistreatment.
Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss elder abuse as a growing public health issue.
  • Identify key risk factors that contribute to elder mistreatment.
  • Explain the mental health impacts of elder mistreatment.
  • Analyze signs, symptoms, and risk indicators of elder abuse to determine when intervention may be warranted.
  • Adapt an elder abuse identification and referral protocol to your specific practice setting.
  • Evaluate available resources to determine appropriate referral options for older adults experiencing mistreatment.
