Description
In this course, you will learn about the unique health care needs of women and families living in rural South Carolina, with a focus on African American pregnant women. You will hear from both subject matter experts and people with lived experiences regarding diabetes, hypertension, maternal mortality and infant mortality in our state.
Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Examine rural health disparities for African American pregnant women.
  • Identify tools and strategies to improve maternal and infant health in rural areas.

This program is supported by funding from the Health Equity Initiative, in partnership with the SC Office of Rural Health (SCORH) and SC Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC DHEC). The Health Equity Initiative is part of a national project by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), supported by funding through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act.
