- Based on information provided by LPNs during their license renewal period in 2016, this report profiles the demographic and work place characteristics of the LPN workforce in South Carolina. The majority of LPNs work in either long-term care (43%) or in ambulatory care settings (39%). Two-thirds are in staff nurse positions, but the report examines the breadth of position titles held by LPNs in a variety of settings. Almost all (96%) are female, and their racial characteristics are very similar to the general population in South Carolina.
